And from the top shelf of Lucy’s bedroom they are watched by an old and wise but very lonely ventriloquist crow called Chris. He prides himself on never interfering in the bears’ lives but will he be able to keep to that promise?
Especially as the bears’ lives are in such a mess. With affairs, fights, lies, revelations and a wedding, things are certainly hotting up in Lucy’s bedroom!

100% Photoshop : creating stunning illustrations without using any photographs

Photoshop is the world’s best-known, best-loved and just downright best photographic manipulation application. It’s used by retouchers, fine artists, graphic designers, photographers, and everyone who works with images in any form.
Drawing in Photoshop isn’t just a second-rate alternative when we can’t find the right image. When we draw an object, we can create it at exactly the shape and angle we want. We can also make it perfectly in focus, with perfect lighting. Drawn objects can be crisper and better defined than even the sharpest photograph: it can often be quicker, too, to draw something rather than to find the real thing and photograph it.
Everything in this book has been drawn entirely in Photoshop, using only the filters and tools that come with the application. Although Photoshop has got better and better with each new version, there’s nothing in this book that can’t be achieved with a version that’s five or more years old.
Drawing from scratch in Photoshop is both hugely enjoyable and highly instructive. By creating our objects we learn a lot about how real world items reflect light, how surfaces are constructed, and how shadows can help make an image more dramatic and help it to look more realistic. And by learning to draw objects, we also improve our Photoshop skills tremendously.

Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices

Dr. Walker explains how the lack or deficiency of certain elements from our customary diet, such as vital organic minerals and salts, and consequently of vitamins, is the primary cause of nearly every sickness and disease. He recommends consuming fresh vegetable and fruit juices to obtain the enzymes needed for optimal health. Includes a breakdown of the nutritional content of common vegetable and fruits.

Herbs in the Treatment of Children: Leading a Child to Health

Reference presents the use of therapeutic herbs in the treatment of childhood illnesses. Focuses on methods leading a child back to health, rather than suppressing symptoms. Issues covered include energy, diet, fever, infections, and asthma.

Total Aikido: The Master Course

Aikido students and enthusiasts the world over will be delighted with this English translation of Gozo Shioda's "hidden principles," finally made available by the Yoshinkan school of aikido. An outstanding student of aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba, Shioda, who taught thousands of people in his lifetime, left a profound legacy, successfully teaching the spiritual and practical applications of a martial art that could all too easily become mired in one or the other.

In this sequel to DYNAMIC AIKIDO, the preeminent master continues his explanation of the essential principles but in finer detail. Comprehensive and fully illustrated, TOTAL AIKIDO covers the basic postures and movements with special emphasis on certain key points for perfecting one's technique to achieve maximum effect with the minimum of effort. Demonstrations are pred in a dojo setting, with helpful pointers for avoiding common mistakes. To enable students to develop greater strength and control, they are shown how to increase their speed, shift their center of gravity, and synchronize movements with those of their opponents.

This is an essential work for students of all levels, a treasury of expert information.

Wrestling Babylon: Piledriving Tales of Drugs, Sex, Death, and Scandal

Professional wrestling’s most notorious scandals and drug-fueled spectacles are laid out using insider details and investigative journalism in this powerful expose of the sport. Featuring pieces previously published in magazines such as Penthouse and People, this book examines the demise of the old Mafia-like territories, whose wake, with the help of cable television and deregulation, helped fuel the astonishing growth of professional wrestling. These solemn and thoroughly investigated accounts—of Hulk Hogan’s drug use, the untimely death of Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka’s girlfriend, the ill-fated Von Erich clan, and various scandals associated with World Wrestling Entertainment’s Vince McMahon—go beyond the theatrics to illustrate what really goes on behind the curtain and where the sport now stands.

Fitness After 40: How to Stay Strong at Any Age

This book is an excellent purchase for anyone looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle during their midlife and beyond. It is very informative and easy to read. Whether you're starting from scratch and trying to get back in shape, or a competitive athlete just looking for a few tips, this is the book for you. I highly recommend this book.

The Raw Secrets: The Raw Food Diet in the Real World

The Raw Secrets will help you live sustainably on the raw vegan diet and overcome the problems you may have encountered in doing so. Based on logical principles, the raw vegan diet still often falls short of expectation. Instead of improvements in their health, many people see deterioration. Others experience less rejuvenation than they anticipated, or find themselves unable to maintain balance in the long-term. This results solely from a lack of understanding of the guiding principles of natural diet, from the widespread misinformation about it, and the gross errors that follow. The 31, succinct chapters give unique insights on many topics affecting those considering a high-raw or all-raw diet. Each holds dozens of tips to help you eat a pure, simple, nourishing diet. If you are tired of the same, boring, repetitive information found in nearly every other book on the raw vegan diet, then you're in for a surprise! If you seek groundbreaking research and a fresh perspective on raw eating, you will find them in The Raw Secrets.

Diet Quality of Americans

This book uses the most recently available data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES 1999-2004) to provide an up-to-date and comprehensive picture of the diets of Food Stamp Program (FSP) participants in three age groups - children 1-18 years old, adults 19-59 years old, and older adults 60 years and older. The book examines nutrient intakes, diet quality, and food choices. Data are presented for FSP participants and two groups of nonparticipants - those who were income-eligible for the FSP but did not participate, and higher-income individuals who were not eligible for the FSP.

Weight Watchers Family Power: 5 Simple Rules for a Healthy-Weight Home

This is a very easy book to read, and the suggestions it offers are real and practical. You don't have to change your entire lifestyle, and that's what I liked about the book. And too, the five steps it recommeds have already been put into use by families, and they've all been proven to work. It definately has helped my family. I've already seen a difference in waist size and attitude.

The Sunfood Diet Success System

After many months, almost a year of trying to get a hold of this book, I finally got my hands on this precious gem. The Sunfood Diet is everything I expected and much more. David Wolfe does an excellent job of explaining the art of consuming only raw food for optimal health and nutrition. This is not a book you will read once and put on a shelf to collect dust. You will read and reread it over and over again. This is not just a book about the raw food diet; it is a book about life and how to live it more abundantly with vibrant health. From the very first chapter to the very last puntuation mark, Mr.Wolfe captures and holds your attention. His prose is clear and easy to understand. Beautiful quotes and poetry adorn the pages throughout the book. An added bonus were the beautiful kirlian photographs showing the life energy emanating from live fruits and vegetables. I am convinced now more than ever that the raw food diet is for me. I wish all Americans would come to this truth. The sooner we realize that the Standard American Diet is killing us the better off we will be. Kudos to you Mr. Wolfe and thankyou for opening my eyes, and for writing an excellent book.

The Food-Mood Solution: All-Natural Ways to Banish Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Stress, Overeating, and Alcohol and Drug Problems

Full disclosure here: I'm a holistic doctor, so I'm biased towards natural interventions for mood disorders, and this is stuff that I talk to patients about on an almost daily basis. But I've seldom seen natural therapies for psychological conditions presented in such a balanced, clear, scientific fashion.
I sometimes blanch at the outlandish claims made by some health books that deal with mental conditions. I think they cruelly mislead patients to believe that there's a vitamin or a supplement for every psychiatric complaint. Reinforcing denial is not good for patients at risk to themselves and others. But Jack Challem is versed in the latest science, and never strays far from the evidence in making his case for natural approaches.
There's clearly a place for drugs in the treatment of mental disorders, but I wish books like this got wider circulation because we could relieve untold suffering with a few basic suggestions herein. Studies have actually shown that good self-help books cure sufferers of mild to moderate depression at a rate comparable to that of Zoloft, Paxil and other commonly used drugs. They've even coined a term for it: "Bibliotherapy"!

Beating Diabetes: Lower Your Blood Sugar, Lose Weight, and Stop Diabetes and Its Complications in Their Tracks

I was very disappointed when I opened the book and read various areas seeking current information on insulin production, injection, pumping and diabetic classifications since the changes of 2003. I am now 53 years old. I was diagnosed with diabetes at 38. Due to medical ignorance, rather than adaguate testing, the Adult Onset of high Blood Glucose was treated with oral medication for 5 months. I had no pointers currently recognised for Type 2. Finally it was suggested I might want to consult a specialist familiar with using insulin. He looked at my Log Book and with and overall dailey use of 24 units had me under 150mg/dL as an average reading the same week. This book is very simple, written at a grade school level (at least it used to be grade school) and only treatment of Type 2 with Diet, Exercise, and Oral Medication is set forth with any detail. The general title is deceptive.

Detox for Women: An All New Approach for a Sleek Body and Radiant Health in 4 Weeks

This book was a delight to read. Natalia's endearing style of addressing the readers as "Ladies,.." makes for an especially personable tone. (She does say at one point that men are also welcome to join in!)
The beginning of the book builds suspense with comments such as, "You will see results in the first few days, and in one month you will have scaled the heights of what the female body can become--and it only gets better the longer you do it!"
The first section explains the importance of cleaning out on a cellular level and how toxins compromise not only our health but appearance (under-circle eyes, puffiness around the eyes, cellulite, etc). The second section deals with 3 steps to detox: various stages of starving the yeast, making a plan, and gearing up for action and discipline. Part three contains the program: what to eat, what food combinations work (and she has made this very simple!), what to avoid, what to stock up on, etc. There is even a 30-day guide for those that like everything spelled out for them. Part four is filled with recipes.
Part five has all kinds of detox and exercise tips, including handling ten objections of procrastinators. I love the way she handles the "my family doesn't eat this way" excuse. She tells people to gradually feed the family better food, sneaking it in so they won't even notice or feel deprived! She does a great job of handling the "but I'm on vacation" excuse as well. This section also dispels many myths, such as the causes of infertility, body odor, cancer, etc, showing that at the root of all dis-ease are toxins. Even the menstrual period is light and breezy when a woman is cleansed, which I discovered very quickly after going raw.

World's Best Kept Beauty Secrets: What Really Works In Beauty, Diet & Fashion

After rummaging through the first few pages, I knew I wasn't leaving the bookstore without this! Want to know how supermodels attack cellulite? They rub their morning coffee grounds into their problem areas; logic being, since caffeine is the largest ingredient in expensive cellulite creams, this is an inexpensive alternative. Got a big, angry red zit right before a date? Rub some Visine on it- it gets the red out of more than your eyes. How do supermodels' eyes look so rested and refreshed? Break out the Preperation H, my friend. The same "Shrinking of hemmoroidal tissues" can happen to puffy bags underneath your eyes, along the jawline, and on puffy cheeks. These, along with very cool fashion tips ("How to Wear Pants", "Do's and Don'ts of Shopping")and wrinkle fighting tips (sleep with a satin pillow- it won't pull your skin taught like fabric pillow, plus, you won't wake up with bed-head hair)are tips and ideas that Irons, a former model herself, has picked up along the years. She has great and realistic tips that you can actually apply and see results from. It's such a reasonably priced book, you can't go wrong. I refer to it all the time.

The Anti-Inflammation Diet and Recipe Book: Protect Yourself and Your Family from Heart Disease, Arthritis, Diabetes, Allergies - and More

I read about nutrition every day and have a library of texts on the various subjects. I am a researcher by profession and an avid 'truth seeker' about nutrition and health. I have read many texts concerning inflammation (probably the greatest new area of medical research in the next 20 years, excluding cancer - which also has a good deal in common with inflammation issues) and this is a book that I would recommend above all the others. It has good solid accurate information concerning the many causes of inflammation and the ways to counter act the body's state of inflammation. There is information in this text that I have never found anywhere else (i.e.: What CANOLA OIL is really all about!). The details surrounding the condition of inflammation in the body are more complete and concise here. If you are going to buy one good book on inflammation - this would be the one to buy.

The Healthy Woman: A Complete Guide for All Ages

I gave copies of The Healthy Woman to my mom and sister and several friends. All of them are thrilled with it! They like the topics covered, the clear format, and the illustrations. My mom is bringing it to her doctor to discuss the recommended screenings and immunizations. The personal stories which accompany each chapter help bring the information into human terms. I highly recommend this book - it was my most successful holiday gift this year!

Boxing Fitness: A Guide to Get Fighting Fit

This short guide to keeping fit for the fight game is as good as it gets. Great pics, easy-to-follow instructions for drills makes for a hassle-free supplement to anyone's training regimen. It isn't geared to pros or novices as there aren't much tips for improving punching or strategies in the ring; in reading through this book, the reader must keep in mind that the content is primarily focused on building or prepping one for the rigors of boxing training. So for those looking to get a headstart to prepare themselves for intensive boxing training, Oliver suggests you get in proper shape. This book will undoubtedly help you.

According to a recent issue of the National Vital Statistics Reports (the monthly publication of the National Center for Health Statistics), there were approximately 2.25 million licensed marriages in the year 2002. During the same period, 1.14 million partnerships were dissolved through a divorce.

Another on-line source, DivorceMag.com offers the discouraging tidbit that the likelihood of all new marriages made in the United States in 1997 to end in divorce is 43%. These figures are indicative of national and world-wide trends that have held fairly constant over the past few years, suggesting that divorce will continue to be a common experience for the foreseeable future.

Barry and Emily McCarthy, realists in today"s world (despite a 38-year first marriage), present the inevitable sequel to Getting It Right the First Time. In Getting It Right This Time, we pick up when the lessons offered in the first book didn"t quite hit home, and the romance, myth, and wonder of passionate sex didn"t develop into a solid foundation for marriage. What went wrong, what can we learn from the mistakes of a first marriage, and how can we move on to start over? In the authors" own words, "there are two crucial learnings from a divorce. The first is to identify vulnerabilities and traps, so they do not control your life and the potential of a subsequent marriage. The second is the commitment to create a second marriage and family which is satisfying and stable."

Getting It Right This Time contains information, guidelines, case studies, and exercises, useable individually or as a couple. Chapters are self-contained, stand-alone units focused on topics such as:
· Intimacy and sexuality
· Step-parenting
· Dealing with the ex-spouse
· Marrying after 50
· Financial issues
· Having a child in a second marriage.

Sticking with the writing style and format that has worked in their previous two Routledge books, the authors have again combined empirical research and experience in practice and therapy with insight and sensitivity to present a unique approach at forming a second marriage. The text has two central focuses: first, divorce is not a failing, but rather a courageous act that can improve your life, and second, that re-marriage is an important choice, and one that should be carefully considered - but one that can lead to a successful, rewarding, and loving second chance.

This is a simple, crisp introduction to yoga. First you get a brief history of yoga and descriptions of several different practices. Then the book focuses on pranayama, the science of breathing, with instructions for correct breathing and illustrations of several breathing exercises. Next you learn 35 hatha yoga asanas (poses) and the Sun Salutation sequence, all well explained and illustrated with photographs.

A helpful chapter is "Finding a Class and Developing Your Yoga Practice," with checklists for finding the right class and the right teacher, and tips for practicing at home. Other chapters explain the seven chakras (energy centers), meditation, yoga for women, yoga for men, and how yoga affects particular health problems.

The clean layout makes for easy reading or skimming, with larger print than most books, and boxed tips. A nice feature is the "Smart Source" boxes of additional resources.
